The bridge is one of the main features of Drammen's cityscape and is very important to the character of the city. PNC Norge AS is using its extensive expertise in bridge construction to build a bridge that will last for the next 100 years.

Shaping Drammen’s city-landscape

Since October 2025, the elegant white bridge has spanned the Drammen River. It forms a central part of the city axis between the main square and the railway station. The 180-metre-long steel bridge is 19.4 metres wider than before, allowing users to cross it by bus, bicycle or on foot.

Work began with the removal of the existing bridge and the demolition of the foundations in the water. Work on the new river foundations and supports was then carried out on two floating platforms, each measuring 20 x 20 m. The steel parts were then assembled before the project was completed with a complete surface design. The parts for the steel bridge were transported by ship from PORR's new steel construction production facility across the sea to Norway – because transport by water is an effective and climate-friendly alternative to land transport.

What ultimately counts in the construction business is successfully completed projects. PORR has many of these.
